This is the story of the Bottomless Coffee Band – married multi-instrumentalist folk-rock duo from Cape Town; making songs about life, love, blues and breakfast! Lourens and Esté Rabé produce a unique sound and performance. Their performance is electric and reminds of the good old days when Johnny Cash and June Carter filled theatres with folk music – entertaining and unique. A few chords and the truth!

The concept came together in August 2010 when they were two young Stellenbosch University students dreaming of life in the music industry. In order to avoid sounding like the typical duo, they decided to combine several instruments with the vision to eventually sound like a full band.
Today, they’re not only partners in music, but also in marriage and they continue to pursue that dream.
They are very busy with various shows including wedding pre-drinks, corporate events, private functions, festivals and public shows. They also released their debut album, Room With A View, in November 2014. This album is their documentation of their first four years in the music industry and consist of nine original works and two of their most popular covers.
Their style is a combination of acoustic folk rock and afro-blues. They call it gourmet music. It describes their vision for their music; to produce an organic sound that’s true to themselves and uplifting to others. They believe that being part of the music industry is a calling. It’s like a gift from above to pursue and a tool to inspire others. Therefore they use their music to encourage good times, hope, love and change.
They currently play 10 instruments between the two of them, which means they create the sound of a full band – fulfilling their vision of 2010.
Their instruments include the Farmer foot drums, acoustic and electric guitar, banjo, acoustic bass, U-Bass (aka basselele), accordion, ukulele, harmonica and various percussion instruments. They also sing (whilst playing the above mentioned instruments) and write their own songs.
Musicians who inspire them include: Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Queen, John Mayer, The Lumineers
